Accessibility Statement

This accessibility statement applies to The Willows School Academy Trust website.

The Willows School Academy Trust operates this website and aims for it to be accessible to the widest possible audience.

As a purpose-built special school for pupils and students of primary school age with Education and Health Care Plans (EHCP), all pupils have access, where appropriate, to all areas of the school building and premises. The school has no car parking facilities for pupils and their families. However, all pupils have an option of local authority-led school transport. The school facilitates a 'walking bus' where staff facilitate a walking scenario from the closest street where transport drops off pupils. Families that bring their own child to school are able to access the front of school through the pedestrian entrance. The school is on one level, with no stairs. Corridors are wide enough to allow for students to manoeuvre. Reception is accessible and there is a waiting area at the front of the building large enough to accommodate pupils and parents. All classroom doors are accessible for children by means of a push-button entry system which allows them independent access and free movement around the school building – with the exception of Elm Class which is adult-led. All toilets and hygiene areas are accessible. The school also has a range of resources, including adapted furniture and equipment. Interactive whiteboards and both low and high-tech communication aids are used throughout the school to enable all pupils to have full access to the curriculum. All classroom areas have access to an outside area, enabling easy escape during an emergency.
