The school has had to work towards meeting the nine evidence-based objectives below to achieve the award.
- Demonstrate a commitment to work towards achieving the LPPA
- Make and implement effective plans to achieve and maintain the LPPA
- Show the school is a welcoming, communicative and friendly place for parents
- Promote the awareness and participation of all groups of parents/carers in supporting their children’s learning and developing their own learning. In addition, the school holds and actively promotes a programme of opportunities and events for joint parent and child participation
- Provide a good induction for all new parents/carers
- Provide parents/carers with relevant and user-friendly guidance and information to help them to support their children’s learning
- Produce and implement parent-friendly policies to establish effective home–school links and to improve children’s attendance, punctuality, progress and positive participation in school
- Provide good support for all parents as their children move through or leave the school
- Summarise our achievements against the LPPA objectives and outlines our future plans
The benefits for children are:
- It is easier for children to learn when they get encouragement at home.
- They will do better and achieve more when their parents are involved.
- Their concerns can be sorted out quicker when their parents have a positive relationship with school staff.
- They are happy when their parents are enjoying events in the school.
When children see their parents or other family members getting involved in the school, it:
- Shows them you are interested in what the school is doing.
- Allows them to see that you value what they are learning.
- Gives them a sense of security.
- Helps them to learn about good citizenship from your example.
- Their children do better when they are involved.
- They are better able to help and encourage their children.
- They have more information about their child's education.
- Parents can build their own confidence and skills.
- When there is a positive relationship between parents and their child's school, the benefits are all-round.
- Parents get reassurance that their children are receiving a good education.
- Get to know the teachers and other parents.
- Gain a better understanding of how the school works.
- See how their child relates to other children and teachers.
- Be setting a good example to young people.
- Have the satisfaction of knowing that they are making a contribution to the school and to their and other children's learning.
- Parents have ideas about how the school can best support their children.
- Staff have people with whom they can talk over ideas and get help when developing plans for the school.
- Parents can give advice and help to reach other parents.
- The school will develop a better understanding of parents and the community.

What difference will the award make to the work done with families at The Willows School Academy Trust?
It will make our work with families even better. It will improve our communication and build more activities for families in school. As you know we are always trying to improve and completing this award will help us do that!
How can families help us gain the award?
• Read all information that we send out
• Come along to events we organize if you are able
• Complete any questionnaires we send out as honestly as you can
There is a LPPA working party who will meet regularly to work on their action plan and gather the evidence needed to gain the award.
We will keep you up-to-date of our progress!
Thank you for your support!
